As those of you who may follow my posts are aware, I have moved to New York City and entered a new phase of my career as a freelancer. I am happy to have been able to logistically afford this new endeavor largely in part to my newest assignment as an Adjunct Assistant Professor at Hofstra University on Long Island. My dear friend, Robert Westley is working on a number of new works in New York including the long awaited Broadway transfer of Hand to God; which he has helped develop since its off-Broadway premiere. As a result, he will be taking sabbatical from his usual full time position as Professor of Movement at Hofstra and has solicited me to help lessen the impact of his absence.
I am extremely grateful to both Robert and the faculty and students at Hofstra who have entrusted me to fill these particularly large (almost clown-like) shoes. I look forward to becoming a part of the Hofstra community, to the opportunity to simultaneously impart knowledge and to learn. Current classes scheduled include unarmed combat for the BFA seeking Acting students and an introductory stage combat class for BA seeking drama majors.
