Thanks to the professional successes of my dear friend and colleague Robert Westley, I have once again been asked to direct movement and violence for Hofstra University in Hempstead, Long Island.
I find myself in the thick of it already – slapping, choking and wrestling my way through As You Like It. A few takedowns from now, I’ll be swinging sabers for a one hour touring production of Hamlet called The Play’s the Thing. And when flights of angels have sung the sweet prince to his rest, I’ll be be helping to animate the famous Norwegian lies of Peer Gynt.
On top of continuing to work with a great number of students whom I have had the pleasure of teaching before; I am thrilled to be working with the director of last season’s Richard II, Jean Dobie Giebel. Add to that, new opportunities to collaborate with Kara-Lynn Vaeni and Marta Rainer and I’m beyond excited to be back on Long Island at the Hofstra Department of Drama and Dance. Come and see any of the three at any point this spring. Tickets and more info available on the department website linked above.
