Underground Railroad Game @ Ars Nova

What an incredible turn of fortune! The chance to work on another amazing piece of theatre. Underground Railroad Games had its world premiere at the Philadelphia Fringe Festival.

Now, in it’s first off-Broadway run, it is hitting a helluva stride. The folks at Ars Nova have been incredibly supportive and are largely responsible for facilitating the right environment for this smart, engaging, thought-provoking piece of theatre.

The real praise belongs to the authors and devisers who are also the actors, Scott Sheppard and Jennifer Kidwell along with director, Taibi Magar. These three spent months tirelessly scrutinizing, rewriting, cutting, honing and polishing what you the New York Times is calling “in-all-ways, sensational.”

I feel incredibly fortunate to have been enlisted to be a part of this project. Thanks to friend and colleague Ryan Bourque (you may recognize him as the photographer who takes pictures of my face) for trusting me to join the violence conversation while he was out of town working for Actor’s Theatre of Louisville. It’s been an incredible experience watching these folks work day after day and I’m grateful to have been a part of it.
